At The Drinks Menu we strive to supply our customers with a unique range of brands, whether its specialist Peroni Gran Riserva from Italy or Goslings Black Seal Rum from Bermuda we like to think that we are creating the right blend for customers discerning palates.
We love sourcing and lauching new brands, its agreat when we get feedback from customers stating that they cannot find a particular product anywhere else but our site. We have moved a long way in a short space of time and still have a long way to go.
At The Drinks Menu its the thought of finding a wonderful red wine such as Cantina Zaccagnini from Abruzzo in Italy or even the amazing range of Pago Fruit Juices from Austria that keeps driving us forward.
2009 was a great year but im sure that 2010 will be even better for The Drinks Menu.

Goslings Black Seal Rum

Abv: 40%. Volume: 70cl.
A blend of 3-6 year old distillates.

With a dark mahogany colour and rich, fruity, intense nose. It has a taste of prunes and dates together with chocolate, coffee and Christmas pudding. Rich, intricate, well balanced with hints of butterscotch, its intense colour comes from aging in once charred American bourbon barrels and the addition of molasses.
In 1806 the Gosling brothers decided to expand their business from London to New England. James Gosling set sail with a cargo of wines and spirits on The Mercury but storms hindered the journey forcing him to dock in Bermuda. Making the best of an uncertain situation, James opened a shop in St. George's, in December 1806. the Gosling family has been in Bermuda ever since… Over 200 years! Gosling Brothers is Bermuda's oldest business.

Dark and Stormy Cocktail

The Dark & Stormy embodies two great tastes of the tropics that and is darker than most tropical drinks, but is just as refreshing. This classic highball is a brand-specific mixed drink that is a completely, some would say wrong, taste if anything other than Gosling's Black Seal rum and ginger beer. Some bartenders will add lime juice to the drink, but the addition of citrus is unnecessary and can be overbearing.
Ingredients:

* 2 oz Gosling's Black Seal rum
* 3 oz Barrit's beer
* lime wedge for garnish if desired

Preparation:

1. Build the ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice cubes.
2. Garnish with the lime wedge.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all our fantastic customers who have purchased from us over the last 12 months. We at The Drinks Menu really appreciate all your orders and would welcome any feedback or ideas you may have about improvements to the site or any new products you would like to see us stocking. We are planning a major overhaul of the The Drinks Menu website over the new year period.
We have recently added a fantastic new range of Rums from Gosling's.

Goslings Gold Bermuda Rum

Abv: 40%. Volume: 70cl.
A blend of 98% 5 year old and 2% 2 year old distillates.

With a rich golden amber colour and elegantly soft, vanilla tones. It has a taste of creamy, toasted oak with apricots and vanilla. For generations, the Gosling name has stood for smooth, complex and decidedly dark rums. But times, and tastes, change.
So, to satisfy the increasingly vociferous requests for a Gosling's Rum with a lighter body, Goslings present Gosling's Gold Bermuda Rum, their first new product in 108 years.
Not to be mistaken for ordinary amber rums, Goslings was years in the making, sipping and perfecting. The result is a mellow, elegant product that lives up to its impressive lineage.
By using the finest distillates in strict accordance with techniques handed down over six generations, they finally created a distinctive lighter rum that is impressing demanding rum enthusiasts everywhere.
This is a well balanced blend of pot still distillates and continuous still distillates. The majority aged five years. This unique, proprietary blend is what sets Gosling's Gold apart from others.
You'll find it has a rich, golden amber colour, a nose of vanilla, apricot, mango and a lightly smoked oak character. The taste is smooth and light with hints of citrus/tropical flavours and nutty undertones.
Unusually versatile, it can be enjoyed straight, on-the-rocks, with ginger ale or as a mixer to enhance any rum recipe.

Pimms No.1

Summertime in a glass. A gin based mixture, Pimm's No.1 Cup is best as a long drink - poured over ice in a tall glass, lemonade or soda added and garnished with fruit and mint. Pimm's was invented in the 1840s, by the owner of an oyster bar in the City of London. James Pimm sold the tonic as an aid to digestion, and served it in a small tankard, the 'No 1 Cup'. After WWII, the Pimms range was extended, using other spirits as a base for new versions, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, 5 and 6. Only No.1 and No.6 are still in production.
Pimm began to market it ready-mixed in 1859, such was its popularity. Fashionable society began to drink Pimm`s as a cocktail during the later part of the 19th century, partially for the alcoholic lift and partially because it was weak enough to be drunk all afternoon.

Throwing in every type of fruit available does not a good cocktail make. A simple Pimm`s and Soda water is just as refreshing. More complicated cocktails are detailed below. Where mint is listed try bashing the leaves first to release more flavour. All should be made over plenty of ice. Optionally you could add frozen cubes of orange juice as well. If you can find fresh borage use some of its smaller leaves instead of the cucumber. Over the last couple of years we have accumulated the following distinctive cocktail recipes. Experiment and enjoy.

End of another hectic week, if its not been fraudsters targetting the site then its been large repair bills for my car. Glad this week is over. Heading into the kitchen to relax and cook up a storm. Spicy Cauliflower soup to start followed by Pasta stuffed with spinach and ricotta with tomato and basil sauce. Chilled bottle of Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc with the starter and a Fruity Chianti with the pasta.
